Depending on the authority the court grants the executor or administrator, the sale may need court confirmation, which can include an overbid process in the courtroom. That adds time and specific steps, and I know how to plan for them.
The successor trustee can usually sell the home directly, which is often faster. There are still documents, notices, and responsibilities to the beneficiaries to get right.
